The Ukrainian Special Operations Forces announced the destruction of a Russian BUK surface-to-air missile system in the Zaporizhzhia region, located in the south of the country. The Special Operations Command reported that the operation was conducted by the 3rd Special Forces Regiment, named after Prince Sviatoslav the Brave.

During reconnaissance missions in the mentioned region, specialized operators managed to locate the BUK missile system, a highly effective and versatile equipment known for its ability to target a wide range of aerial threats. In response to the detection of this hostile device, Ukrainian special forces employed precision-guided munitions from the HIMARS rocket artillery unit, belonging to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, to neutralize the threat.

The BUK system, designated as SA-11 Gadfly by NATO, is a key component in Russian air defense capabilities, designed to protect ground forces and logistical installations from aerial attacks. This mobile medium-range system can engage tactical and strategic aircraft, cruise missiles, helicopters, and other threats, maintaining its effectiveness even under conditions of intense electronic countermeasures.
